It was when I was a United States AmeriCorps member (a national service program for those who want to work to better our communities) that I realized that I wanted to become a teacher. As a two-year service member, I tutored first graders who were at risk of failure. After AmeriCorps, I went to The Ohio State University to obtain my Masters of Education. While completing my degree, I did my student teaching at the inner-city middle school that would become my second home for thirteen years.
I am excited to become part of the HWIS family, and look forward to working with everyone here.
